Chetan Bhagat is a famous Indian author who penned down novels that hit the market with great success. All of them were bestsellers since their release and have been filmed by famous Bollywood directors. Chetan Bhagat is considered a youth icon rather than as just an author. With his vivid and humorous way of depicting stories, he has inspired reading habits in many young Indians. He is also a good columnist and writes columns for many leading newspapers. According to him, novels are entertainment tools through which he expresses his views and opinion about society and the youth. Development issues and national issues are addressed through columns. Chetan's columns are written in a way that directly points out the issues within our country and in many times it has even triggered discussions in the parliament. He is not only a good writer but also a motivational speaker and has given many motivational speeches at many colleges, organizations and companies.

On April 22, 1974, in Dehli, India, Baghat was born to a traditional Punjabi bourgeois family. His father served as lieutenant colonel in the Indian army while his mother worked in agricultural department of government. He received most of his education in his hometown. In 1978, he was enrolled in Army Public School and later attended the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Subsequently, he studied at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and married a fellow student, Anusha Suryanarayanan, in 1998. Upon graduation, he moved to Hong Kong with his family, where he worked for eleven years with Goldman Sachs as an investment banker. On his return to India, he shifted to Mumbai from New Delhi. With the shift he also switched his career choice and embarked on his passion for writing.

This book can be recommended to readers for light simple reading. Chetan Bhagat’s style of writing is so much entertaining that he gains popularity among the youth. However I do not recommend this to the younger lot in the school, they however get to read by either purchasing or from friends.


ENHANCING THE VALUE OF THE BOOK



I would give 4 stars as being an Indian author he could pen so well that he became famous for his writing skills, his vocabulary that the readers could relate to.

PURPOSE OF BOOK REVIEW (30-50)


This book is mostly meant for entertaining purpose and it gives joy in reading, however much of the writing skill is very much appreciated. His insights towards life is highly depicted.

PRESENTATION


I have read almost all of Bhagat’s books and I find them entertaining and enjoyable, otherwise I am a person who would never opt to read Indian author’s books except chetan Bhagat’s books. I like novels by Foreign authors only in the English language.
